Dr. Emily Essid | Online Psychologist for Adults: Navigating Relationships, Trauma, and Maternal Mental Health in California

Hi! I’m Dr. Emily Essid, a licensed clinical psychologist providing secure online therapy for adults throughout California.

A lot of the people I work with are professionals, caregivers, or individuals who seem to have it all together on the outside: reliable, thoughtful, the ones everyone counts on. But privately, they're carrying a lot—responsibility that feels heavy, guilt that doesn't quite make sense, and a persistent self-doubt that's been there so long it almost feels normal. All of it has quietly shaped how they see themselves, how they connect with others, and how they move through their emotional lives.

Whether you’re navigating relationship difficulties, healing from trauma, coping with anxiety, or adjusting to the profound changes of pregnancy and early parenthood, therapy is a space where you can actually slow down. Together, we’ll look at the patterns that have been running in the background for years and start to loosen their grip.

My goal isn’t simply to help you feel better in the short term. It’s to help you deeply understand yourself, build greater flexibility in your relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change that continues well beyond our sessions.

I work with patients across California, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Ventura, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village,Camarillo, Santa Clarita, Valencia, and surrounding communities.

Who I work with

You probably grew up learning to keep your emotions in check, put everyone else first, and stay completely calm no matter what was happening around you. While those are incredible strengths that helped you succeed, running on autopilot like that is exhausting. Eventually, it leads to silent anxiety, deep burnout, and a strange feeling of being disconnected from your own life.

I specialize in helping high-functioning adults break out of these exhausting cycles. We will dive deep into the root causes of what's keeping you stuck, focusing heavily on five primary areas:

A man with dark hair and a beard sitting on a brown leather couch against a dark blue wall, resting his head on his hand.
A pregnant woman with long dark hair standing by a crib in a softly lit nursery. The woman is wearing a pink patterned dress and is looking down at the crib. The room has light-colored curtains, a chair with a blanket, a fluffy white rug, an abacus, and some plush toys on a changing pad.
A young man with black hair and a denim jacket sitting by a window on a bus, looking out at the view outside.
A man and woman sitting back-to-back on the grass in a park, with a house and trees in the background.
People gathering around a wooden table with bowls of herbs, dried flowers, and cups, preparing herbal blends or teas in an outdoor setting.
